Decades of cooking, culinary writing and publishing
Born in Belgium in 1967, Dirk De Boeck has spent his life between two enduring passions: words and food. He graduated from higher education in Brussels in 1989, studying economics and public relations — a foundation that would later shape his ability to build both a career and a brand. From 1999 onwards, he held a series of management and C-level roles in the international tech industry, work that took him across continents and into boardrooms far removed from the kitchen.
But the kitchen was never far from his mind. Dirk began writing short stories and articles for various small magazines in 2000, and by 2002 he was writing cookbooks and recipes — a pursuit he continues to this day. In 2003, he launched what would become Belgium's most visited culinary website, running it until its commercial handover in 2008. During those same years, from 2004 to 2008, he served on the jury of one of Belgium's finest culinary schools, helping shape the next generation of chefs.
In 2024, Dirk published his first culinary book. Since 2005, he has travelled across five continents, always with a notebook in one hand and a fork in the other.
